Email: rmallick1@student.gsu.edu Note from the Chair Fall 2024 Greetings friends! I hope your semesters are wrapping up well. As we look ahead to 2024, I want to remind you all about some important upcoming opportunities. First, please apply for the 2025 Student Paper Competitions and Outstanding Scholarship Awards. These awards honor the outstanding contributions being made in our field, and I believe many of you are deserving of this acknowledgment. For more details, please visit this link. Additionally, the 2025 SSSP Annual Conference is fast approaching, and I encourage you to submit your papers for consideration. The SSSP conference is a fantastic opportunity to share your research and connect with others in the field, and we look forward to seeing the diverse and powerful work that will be presented. Our division is sponsoring/co-sponsoring 7 amazing sessions and I can’t wait to see what you all have in store for those panels! You can find more information at this link. Please also keep an eye out for information from the SSSP office about our upcoming division election. This is an important part of who we are and what we do, and I appreciate all your help with running and voting for these positions. Finally, as we continue to navigate these challenging times, I want to acknowledge the difficult political landscape we face. Like so many of you, I am deeply concerned about the direction of criminal justice policy, human rights protections, and the continued erosion of social fabric under the incoming presidential administration. However, I urge you to stay strong and resilient. Our work has never been more essential. We must continue to speak truth to power, advocate for justice, and hold systems accountable for their actions. There will be many challenges ahead, but we are a community and division that thrives on resilience, innovation, and unwavering commitment to social justice. The work we do has a real impact on individuals and communities, and I am inspired every day by the dedication and courage each of you brings to this field. Let's stay motivated, stay connected, and continue pushing forward, knowing that our collective efforts will continue to make a difference. Thank you again for all your hard work, your passion, and your contributions to the Division of Crime and Justice. I look forward to seeing you all at future events and conferences, and I am excited about all that we will continue to achieve together. Stay strong, stay hopeful, and keep doing the crucial work you do. Best, Christopher Dum DIVISION ASSOCIATE CHAIR: Miltonette Olivia Craig (2023-2025).
