Sport, Leisure, and the Body in this issue 2024 Annual Meeting Call for Papers 2024 Student Paper Competition New Publications (Fall 2023) Why an image of shoes? by Michael O. Johnston As I continued to think of an opening article for the Division of Sport, Leisure, and Body newsletter my mind kept taking me to an image of shoes, sneakers, cleats. After thinking about the topic a bit more, I found it to be appropriate for the changing of seasons-- for the weather as well as the leisure and sporting events that we engage in. My wife and I have two children, Ava (10) and Skyler (13), and they seem to go through sneakers about as fast as they go through the socks they put on their feet. We donate their used shoes when they become too small for their feet and throw them away when they are too worn for anyone to wear. It also seems as of late that every new season means a new size of shoe for my children. For me, I seem to just go through the motions of changing seasons without much attention--my shoe size also does not seem to change much from one season to the next. What is your experience with the changing of seasons? 2023 Annual Meeting Call for Papers The slate of 2023 annual meeting sessions are now set.
